TH 232 SuiteСюитаSketch, D minor (1889–90?).
HistoryBesides the four suites written by Tchaikovsky (counting Mozartiana as the fourth suite), a sketch is preserved for an unrealised idea for suite. It is found in a copy book with sketches for the ballet The Sleeping Beauty. It can therefore be supposed that this indented project dated from 1889 or 1890. The sketch comprises 14 bars of a melody in the key of D minor. At the start is the note: "O, how short is life, and how much we suffer here". Above is the heading "And[ante] (for suite)". No further references to this project are found among his letters or other documents. From: Музыкальное наследие Чайковского (1958),
