HistoryNo information survives concerning the date or origins of this work. Vasilii Prokunin was a student of Tchaikovsky's at the Moscow Conservatory, and it might be supposed that he asked his professor for help in editing and reworking the songs. The songs were published in two parts by Petr Jurgenson — Part 1 (songs 1–33) in 1872 [1], and part 2 (songs 34–65) in 1873 [2]. From: Музыкальное наследие Чайковского
