Podushkino

Podushkino (Подушкино, Poduškino) is a suburb of the city of Moscow, in the Moscow oblast (Московская область) of the Russian Federation. During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it was a separate village in the Moscow district (Московский уезд) and Moscow province (Московская губерния) of the Russian Empire.

Tchaikovsky stayed at his brother Anatolii's dacha at Podushkino between 31 May/12 June–1/13 September 1883, punctuated by visits to Moscow and Kuntsevo. The day after his arrival at Podushkino, the composer began the draft of his Suite No. 2 which was dedicated to Anatolii's wife Praskov'ia.
