Konotop
Konotop (Конотоп) is a city and the administrative centre of the Konotop district (Конотопський район) in the Sumy oblast (Сумська область) of Ukraine. During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it was the principal city of the Konotop district (Конотопский уезд) of Chernigov province (Черниговская губерния) in the Russian Empire.
The composer visited his brother Nikolay at Konotop in early/mid June 1871, where he was working as a mining engineer, before continuing on to Kamenka. He left no documentary record of his views of Konotop.
