Georgii NikolaevichTchaikovskyГеоргий Николаевич ЧайковскийBorn Georges-Léon DAVYDOV (Давыдов) in Paris on 26 April 1883, the illegitmate son of the composer's niece Tat'iana Davydova and Stanislav Mikhailovich BLUMENFEL'D (1850-1897), a music teacher. His birth remained a secret from most members of the Tchaikovsky and Davydov families, and the composer provided financial support during his early years. In 1886 the child was adopted by his grand-uncle Nikolai Tchaikovsky (brother of the composer), whereupon he assumed the name Georgii Nikolaevich Tchaikovsky, and was brought back from France to Russia. He died in 1940, aged 57. In 1893 the composer wrote a humorous Polka de Salon for his nephew. |
