Praskov'ia Vladimirovna Tchaikovskaia

Прасковья Владимировна Чайковская

Sister-in-law of the composer. Born Praskov'ia Vladimirovna KONSHINA (Коншина) in 1864, daughter of the industrialist Vladimir Dmitrievich KONSHIN (1835-?). Praskov'ia's mother Elizaveta (b. 1835) was the sister of the Russian businessman and art collector Pavel TRET'IAKOV (1832-1898); the latter's daughter Vera was married to the pianist Aleksandr Ziloti (1863-1945), who worked closely with Tchaikovsky.

In 1882 Praskov'ia married the composer's brother Anatolii Tchaikovsky, and they had one daughter:

  1. Tat'iana Anatol'evna TCHAIKOVSKAIA (1883-1970)

Tchaikovsky often stayed with Anatolii and Praskov'ia at Tiflis during the 1880s. The composer also wrote regularly to his sister-in-law, to whom he dedicated his Suite No. 2, Op. 53 (1883).

Praskov'ia Tchaikovskaia died in 1956.
