Mikhail SofronovMikhail Ivanovich Sofronov (Михайл Иванович Софронов) was a servant of the composer, born at Klin, near Moscow, in 1848. Formerly a servant to Ferdinand Laub (a colleague of the composer's at the Moscow Conservatory), Mikhail Sofronov became Tchaikovsky's servant in 1871, later sharing these duties with his younger brother Aleksei. After Tchaikovsky's marriage in 1877, only Aleksei was kept on, and Mikhail left the composer's service. Mikhail Sofronov died in 1932, aged 84. |
