Nikolai LentsNikolai Konstantinovich Lents or Lenz (Николай Константинович Ленц) was a Russian lawyer and composer, born in 1858. Lenz was introduced to Tchaikovsky by his teacher Nikolai Rimskii-Korsakov in 1880, and later went on to become the organizer of the music circle in Tver. In 1893 Tchaikovsky dedicated his piano piece Valse à cinq temps (No. 16 of the Eighteen Pieces, Op. 72) to Lenz. |
