Petr Kozidub

Petr Gerasimovich Kozidub (Петр Герасимович Козидуб) was an elderly steward on the Davydov family's estate at Kamenka, Ukraine, during the 1860s and 1870s.

Tchaikovsky joked that Kozidub was the "true composer" of the Ukrainian folk tune "The Crane" in the last movement of his Symphony No. 2), due to the steward's habit of humming it (badly) while Tchaikovsky was composing the work at Kamenka in 1872.
