Iurii L'vovich Davydov

Юрий Львович Давыдов

Nephew of the composer. Born on 24 April/6 May 1876 in Geneva, Switzerland, the 8/20 August 1870 at Kamenka (Kiev Region), Ukraine, the youngest son of Lev Vasil'evich DAVYDOV and his wife Aleksandra Il'inichna (b. TCHAIKOVSKAIA). Also known as Georgii.

He graduated from Bonn Agricultural Academy in 1898. Later a director of the Kiev branch of the Russian Musical Society (1908-17), and helped to found the Kiev Conservatory. In 1937 he joined the staff of the composer’s house-museum at Klin, where he became curator in 1945.

He married Margarita Nikolaevna LOPUKHINA (1864-1931), and they had four children.

  1. Iriina Iur'evna DAVYDOVA (1900-89). Married to Mr Sokolinskii.
  2. Tat'iana Iur'evna DAVYDOVA (1902-1925)
  3. Kseniia Iur'evna DAVYDOVA (1905-1989)
  4. Georgii Iur'evich DAVYDOV

Iurii Davydov died on 16 Apr 1965 at Klin, and was buried at the Dem'ianovo Cemetery, near Klin.
