Tchaikovsky and Politics

I once read that Tchaikovsky demonstrated his doubt in the russian governement through his compositions. I was wondering if this was true, and if so, where could I find more information about this?

Unike Shostakovich, for example, Tchaikovsky wasn't at all politically-minded, and I think anyone would be hard pressed to find any anti-establishment sentiments in his works (quite the opposite, in fact).
